The Ministry of Detainees and the Faculty of Mass Communication at Al-Aqsa University organize the event “Live the Experience” to support the detainees’ cause.

Today, Monday, the Ministry of Detainees’ affairs, in cooperation with the students of the Faculty of Mass Communication at Al-Aqsa University, organized a solidarity event entitled “Simulating the Reality of Prisoners in Occupation Prisons” (Live the Experience), to support the prisoners’ cause.

The event was held on Monday 12/6 in the conference hall of the Ministry of Detainees in the presence of Mr. Bahaa Al-Madhoun, Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Nabil Al-Tahrawi, Media and Public Relations manager at Al-Aqsa University, and the ex-detainee Nisreen Hassan “Abu Kamil”, and a group of academics and interested people and a crowd of university students.

During the meeting, Al-Madhoun stressed the need for concerted efforts to support the detainees by introducing and spreading more information about the prisoners’ suffering and supporting their families at the local and international levels through social media, field events and public activities that expose the occupation.

He called upon all institutions working in the field of prisoners and human rights, and all Palestinian frameworks, especially student frameworks in all Palestinian universities and schools, to expose the crimes of the occupation against the prisoners.

In turn, the ex-detainee, Nisreen Hassan, talked about the experience of detention inside prisons, the harassments they are subjected to, and the unprecedented fierce attack that is being plotted against all  prisoners. Over the past years, the detainees has achieved a series of victories and successes in the face of the prison administration.

For his part, Dr. Nabil Al-Tahrawi stressed the importance of exploiting the media in serving the prisoners’ cause, especially the new media on social media, noting that the media is of great importance in exposing the violations and crimes that prisoners are subjected to in the occupation’s prisons.
